Manchester United forward Adnan Januzaj could leave Old Trafford if the Red Devils sign a new striker before the close of the transfer window.

This has been reported by the Daily Mail, who claim that the Red Devils hierarchy will only allow the talented youngster to leave on loan if they find a replacement in the coming days.

Januzaj has been handed a starting role in United's last three fixtures, however it appears that his short-term future in Manchester is still in some doubt.

United, of course, have endured a tricky time in front of goal so far this season, having only scored two goals in their opening three league games.

And with captain Wayne Rooney struggling to find his best form up top, it's not entirely surprising that the Red Devils have been linked with a front man, with Bayern striker Thomas Muller seemingly on the club's radar.

Striker needed

There's absolutely no doubt about it, Manchester United are in desperate need of adding to their striker options before the transfer deadline.

Ultimately, Rooney appears to be struggling in attack, while there remains questions as to whether the trio of Javier Hernandez, Marouane Fellaini and Januzaj are capable of starring in the striker role week in, week out.

In truth, it's quite clear that United must sign a top-class striker if they are serious about overhauling Chelsea at the summit of the Premier League table this term. If Van Gaal fails to improve his attack, then United may well find themselves fighting it out for a place in the Champions League once again. The Red Devils must act sooner rather than later.
