Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked with a move for Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev throughout the summer transfer window, but it appears the English clubs are set to miss out on the 24-year-old.
The Merseyside club were favourites for the signature of Cheryshev, with Arsenal also rumoured to be interested in the player. However the Russian wide-man looks set to secure a switch to fellow La Liga outfit Valencia, according to Marca.
Liverpool's interest in Cheryshev has waned since the season kicked off with Jordan Ibe being given a lot of first-team opportunities, while the Gunners have a wealth of attacking talent in the wide areas so were unlikely to do battle for the Russia international.

Cheryshev came through the ranks at Los Blancos having joined from Burgos in 2002 but was limited to one Copa del Ray appearance for the Spanish giants. He enjoyed a successful spell on loan at Villarreal last season and looked to be staying put at Madrid, however the Spanish publication are reporting he is close to an exit.
Arsenal and Liverpool played out a pulsating 0-0 draw at the Emirates last night, and both clubs are expected to do more business in the transfer window before it slams shut in seven days.
GUNNERS NEED SIGNINGS
Arsenal have been able to add any new faces since the arrival of Petr Cech, and received some bad news via Twitter in their pursuit of Cheryshev's team-mate Karim Benzema.
It is reported the North London club have turned their interest to Edinson Cavani as they look to add a world-class striker before September 1. It is also rumoured they are interested in Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak.
LIVERPOOL COULD DO BUSINESS
Liverpool have been the busier of the two clubs in the summer, adding six players to their ranks. Christian Benteke, Joe Gomez, Nathaniel Clyne and James Milner have hit the ground running at Anfield, while Roberto Firmino is slowly being introduced to Premier League football.
The club were rumoured to be interested in central midfielder Asier Illarramendi as it was expected Lucas Leiva would leave the club however.
But following an injury to Jordan Henderson, Lucas was given a start at the Emirates last night and grabbed his opportunity with both hands, putting in a solid display in front of the back four.
Many Reds fans are keen to see the Brazilian stay at Anfield and they may get their wish following last nights solid display.
