Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has insisted that he will rotate his squad throughout the course of the season.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of this evening's clash with Belgian outfit Club Brugge, Van Gaal suggested that he will make changes, when asked about the potential involvement of Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera.

Herrera, of course, has endured a tricky start to the season at Old Trafford, having failed to secure a regular role under the Dutch regime.

Despite proving his credentials towards the end of the last campaign, the dynamic midfielder is yet to start this time round, as the Red Devils go in search of success on both the domestic and European scene.

It appears, then, that after the double signing of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, Herrera has fallen down the pecking order at the Theatre of Dreams. It now remains to be seen as to whether he will be handed his first start in tonight's crunch Champions League play-off clash.

Herrera deserves chance

And, there's no doubt about it, Herrera really does deserve his chance to shine in Manchester. Ultimately, in the latter stages of last season, he was one of United's standout players, and formed a fine relationship with compatriot Juan Mata, as the Red Devils secured a place in the top four of England's elite division.

Now, though, he appears to be out in the cold, which doesn't sit too well with the majority of the Manchester United faithful.

United are clearly missing someone with a bit of pace in the middle of the park, and Herrera would only bring that to the side. This evening's clash with Brugge could be his chance to shine - and fans of the Red Devils will certainly hope so.
