Former Hannover and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Jan Simak scored the extra-time goal which saw Carl-Zeiss Jena dump Arminia Bielefeld out of the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday.

The second division side joined 1860 Munich and TSG Hoffenheim as lower-league representatives in the last eight with a 2-1 win over their Bundesliga opponents.

Last year´s beaten finalists Stuttgart struggled to get past Werder Bremen´s reserve team. It looked so easy for Armin Veh´s side after a hat-trick from Mario Gomez gave them a 3-0 half-time lead.
