Louis van Gaal has never appeared to be truly convinced by Herrera, who scored eight goals in 22 starts for the Red Devils last season.

But the former Athletic Bilbao star, who cost United £29 million last summer, will have the opportunity to prove his worth in Belgium this evening.

Fellaini to replace Januzaj

The MEN add that Marouane Fellaini could also start for United tonight, in place of compatriot Adnan Januzaj.

It was Fellaini who scored the all-important third goal for United in the final stages of last week’s first leg and the versatile 27-year-old is likely to start in the No. 10 role behind either Wayne Rooney or Javier Hernandez.

Man Utd fans want Herrera to start
