Outspoken Greg Rutherford says he will not change for anyone.

The 28-year-old completed the full set of major titles by landing long jump gold at the World Championships in Beijing, but has attracted as many headlines for his stinging criticism of UK Athletics.

He claimed athletes were scared to speak out against the governing body and that he was prepared to become an "outcast" to highlight their problems and concerns.

Such comments have divided opinion - he was told by BBC pundit Michael Johnson to "do more jumping, less talking" - but Rutherford is in no mood to keep quiet.

"I'm going to stay exactly as I am," he said.

"There's a space for people to start speaking out. In my opinion, the sport needs more people to speak out and actually try to promote and push the sport forward.

"If that's critiquing people initially, then so be it. I'll stay as I am, I don't have to answer to anyone."

Rutherford's victory at the Bird's Nest stadium, achieved with a leap of 8.41 metres, made him only the fifth British athlete to hold the Olympic, world, Commonwealth and European titles at the same time.

The other members of the exclusive club are Daley Thompson, Linford Christie, Sally Gunnell and Jonathan Edwards.

That achievement has helped to silence the critics who branded his Olympic triumph lucky, but Rutherford insists he is still hungry for more medals.

"I think I'm more prepped for anyone to call it a fluke so I'm ready to go on and win another one, so I can get that done and move on from there," said the Milton Keynes athlete.

"For me, I'm always striving. I can never rest on my laurels.

"I compete in Zurich in a week's time in the Diamond League final so I need to stay in good shape, get back on the track and start training in the next couple of days.

"I want to win the Diamond League this year and said that from the start of the season.

"If I could walk away with both Diamond League and world titles in one year then 2015 is up there as one of the good ones."
