Bordeaux are grinding out results as they attempt to keep on the coat-tails of leaders Lyon, but their performance levels may need to improve if they are to get anything out of Sunday´s trip to Lorient.

Les Girondins are three points adrift of the champions after a superb run of four straight wins in Ligue 1, and they look to be the only team capable of challenging Les Gones this season. The last two matches, against St Etienne at home and Le Mans away, have harvested six points but they have been scrappy affairs.

Against a Lorient team who are strong at Le Moustoir, Bordeaux know a step-up in performance is required, and after the 1-0 win over St Etienne defender Marc Planus said: "It will certainly have to be a better Bordeaux if we are to bring anything back from Brittany."
