After months of speculation, Arsenal's interest in Karim Benzema comes to a shuddering halt after the French forward made his feelings clear on Twitter on Monday.

"For all those clowns who want to make believe things at my fans. Here this is my home ! #HalaMadridYNadaMas" he wrote.

With Wenger still desperate to secure a striker to help lift his team to glory, Arsenal are now set to make stunning bid for the talented Uruguayan, Edinson Cavani.

It is no secret that Paris Saint-Germain do not want to sell their star man, Cavani, but doubts about his future remain and his name is always being bandied around with transfer speculation, especially with Premier League clubs.

The 28 year old has been on Arsenal’s radar in the past while it is sure Manchester United would also be interested if it was confirmed that the Uruguayan was available before the window shut.

Reportedly, Arsenal would have to pay around £50 million to sign the PSG striker, who had his scoring boots on last season.

Arsene Wenger knows time is running out and to pull off another surprise late deal like they achieved two years ago with German, Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid, would be just what is needed here.

They will remain in the market in case of a late deal cropping up, which would force other clubs to make their big players available to help fund other transfers. That means that Cavani could still happen, but time is not on Arsenal's side.

There is no doubt to the incredible talent of Cavani and a striker is imperative for Arsenal to gain any silverware this season.

It remains to be seen whether the French champions or the Uruguay international would even consider a deal with Arsenal, only time will tell.
