Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has €100million ready and waiting in the bank to use by September 1, according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraff.

The source, that has been right about United’s actions on a number of occasions since Van Gaal’s arrival at Old Trafford, makes the big claim without exactly specifying who it might be spent on. Frustrating to say the very least.

Big targets

Of course United fans have had plenty to digest this past week, in particular rumours that their club is keen on signing Barcelona star Neymar.

Whilst that appear as likely as Sir Alex Ferguson returning to manage the Red Devils on a blazing white steed, there is something to take from the speculation.

That’s that Van Gaal is probably not done with regards to spending money this window, with one or two positions in his starting XI in need of strengthening.

Huge deal feasible?

Neymar is far from alone in being a world-class player linked with a transfer to United, with Gareth Bale and Thomas Muller two others who find themselves potential targets.

Whilst De Telegraff - as already confirmed - don’t go into much detail bar the fact that Van Gaal has a tremendous amount of money at his disposal, it’s safe to assume there are only a few targets who could possibly occupy his sights.

The three mentioned above are the most likely candidates based on their respective price-tags, although Neymar’s probably exceeds even that.

With Van Gaal said to be on the lookout for another forward having opted against signing Pedro the last few days of the window could be interesting indeed.

United fans, who do you think your club could sign before the end of the transfer window? Let us know in the comments box below.
