Mario Balotelli skipped Liverpool training to buy iPhone 6

Mario Balotelli skipped a Liverpool training session in order to purchase himself a new iPhone 6, according to a shock new anecdote in the Liverpool Echo.

The Merseyside paper makes the claim that the Italian footballer was a world away from the ‘changed man’ many perceived him to be at Anfield, and cite a number of instances as evidence that he was just as troublesome as he’s always been.

The standout story by far is the one the Echo leads with, involving Balotelli supposedly faking a hamstring injury after seeing a teammate with a new iPhone 6, one that he himself did not possess.

It’s said that when the rest of the team returned from a 90 minute training session - one that Balotelli himself had withdrawn from - the forward was seen clutching a new phone with packaging stacked up alongside him.

The paper goes on to reveal a number of other incidences that call into question the ex-Manchester City man’s professionalism, creating the idea that Brendan Rodgers might not have been so foolish after all for opting to force him to train away from the first-team since this summer.

Balotelli's future

In any case the striker’s recent loan move to AC Milan - it may well become permanent at the end of next season if the Italian side so choose - very much represents the last chance saloon for him.

Balotelli may be great when he’s focused and prepared to put a shift in, but his career thus far shows nothing but a talented player who is wasting his gift.

Liverpool fans, do you think Balotelli has got any future at Anfield? Was Rodgers right to loan him out? Let us know in the comments box below.
