Roma enjoyed a routine 2-0 win over Catania on Sunday afternoon to maintain the pressure on Serie A leaders Internazionale but the afternoon was marred by violence outside the Stadio Olimpico.

Fans clashed outside the ground before kick-off with three Catania fans needing medical attention after suffering stab wounds near the ground. When the on-pitch action got under way, it was Roma who dominated.

Ludovic Giuly opened the scoring for Roma in the eighth minute before Daniele De Rossi made it 2-0 from the penalty spot on 57 minutes after Christian Terlizzi had brought down Rodrigo Taddei inside the box.
