Fenerbahce continue to pay Appiah

Football News
Fenerbahce have clarified that they will continue to pay the wages of Ghana midfielder Stephen Appiah despite reports earlier this week that the club had frozen his contract because of concerns over his fitness.

The 27-year-old, an eight million euro signing from Juventus in 2005, is suffering from a blood clot in his knee which will likely rule him out for the rest of the season.

A statement from the reigning Turkish champions said: "There is no thought at all of cancelling or annulling the contract of Stephen Appiah."
