Gareth Bale could make future Manchester United switch claims Harry Redknapp

Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has insisted that he can't see Barcelona forward Neymar signing for Manchester United, but has suggested that Welshman Gareth Bale could complete a move to Old Trafford in the future.

Writing for Kicca, Redknapp claimed, however, that he doesn't expect Real Madrid ace Bale to return to England anytime soon.

In fact, the ex-Spurs manager suggested that it wouldn't be easy for any of the big sides to secure big-name signings before the close of the transfer window.

Redknapp stated: "I can’t see Neymar moving from Barcelona to Manchester United. No disrespect to United, I can’t see him wanting to leave Spain to play here now.

"I’m a big Bale fan, he’s proved it over here. Both he and Neymar would be sensational players for anyone that could get them.

"But I wouldn’t see Neymar as a possibility. Bale maybe a possibility at one stage, he’ll come home at one stage. But I’d be surprised if either came now. It’s going to be difficult get big-name players from big clubs now at this stage in the window."

Immediate focus

Let's be honest, Redknapp is right: Manchester United aren't going to sign either of Neymar or Bale anytime soon, so they should probably look elsewhere as they go in search of success on both the domestic and European scene this season.

Ultimately, despite Wayne Rooney's glorious hat-trick in the Champions League qualifier against Club Brugge last night, the Red Devils are in need of a new striker. But, of course, signing a world-class forward is easier said than done. Is there really anyone out there?

Of course, if Ed Woodward and Co. work hard enough over the coming days, then United could yet surprise one or two on the transfer scene. One thing's for sure, it certainly looks set to be a busy period for all involved in Manchester.
