UFC 194 set to be best co-Main Event in UFC History

Having two title fights on one night is becoming more of a common place in the UFC these days, with the addition of more weight classes.

Never has there been two title fights with such anticipation surrounding them than those at UFC194 on one card however.

The Main Event sees Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo (25-1) finally fight Interim Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor (18-2) in a title unification bout. Aldo was famously criticised earlier this year for pulling out of a bout with the charismatic Irishman. For that reason the hype behind this fight has far from gone stale.

In the co-Main Event the only undefeated male champion, Chris Weidman (13-0), faces his toughest challenge since Anderson Silva, putting his title on the line against the highly touted Luke Rockhold (14-2). This is a hotly anticipated encounter and there is no love loss between these two.

Different Animal

Luke Rockhold appeared on Monday nights edition of the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. When asked what he thought of Weidman as a champion he broke down each of his opponents saying he fought "a one legged spider (Anderson Silva)...A fireless dragon (Lyoto Machida)...an Old Lion (Vitor Belfort)".

He continued the metaphors by stating; "He's fighting a different animal at this point".

Rockhold appears extremely confident in his abilities and chances of winning, going so far as to say:

"I'm better than any middleweight in the world right now".

There seems to be a growing fear in UFC circles that the Aldo v McGregor fight may once again fail to materialise. Perhaps that is the reason they are having such a strong co-Main Event.

Weidman v Rockhold would be an amazing replacement fight for the December card. Ariel Helwani certainly seems to think so saying of the fight:

"There's no fight I'm looking forward to more than Rockhold Weidman."

Regardless, it is set to be a great night of fights at UFC 194 in Las Vegas on the 12th of December.
