Football News
Schalke coach Mirko Slomka has called on strikers Soren Larsen and Peter Lovenkrands to make "significant improvements" if they are to play a more prominent role for the club in the second half of the season.

Larsen has dropped to fifth in the club´s striking pecking order while Lovenkrands has found his first-team chances limited, but both were on target in a 3-1 friendly win over Freiburg on Tuesday.

With star striker Kevin Kuranyi laid low by a lung infection, Slomka is now ready to let the Danish pair challenge Gerald Asamoah and Halil Altintop for the starting berths in attack as the Royal Blues bid to challenge on three fronts between now and May.
