Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal failed to rule out the possibility of more transfer activity for the Red Devils before the close of the transfer window.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, the United chief, who has already secured the signatures of as many as five new players already this summer, has insisted that the club will make announcements when they want to.

In fact, the same report from MEN claim that United have been linked with late moves for the quartet of Thomas Muller, Arjen Robben, Gareth Bale and Felipe Anderson, but it remains to be seen as to whether the club press ahead with a move for any of the players in the coming days.

Van Gaal, who speaking ahead of his side's Premier League showdown with Swansea City on Sunday, certainly wasn't giving anything away when asked about potential deals at Old Trafford.

The United chief stated: “We shall do announcements when we want to do it not when you want an answer.”

Asked again later about transfers, Van Gaal responded by saying: “The same as your colleague. When we want to do announcements we shall do it.”

Striker signing key

In truth, it's been a strong summer window for the Red Devils, but the club's hierarchy could do with adding a new striker to the ranks sooner rather than later.

Ultimately, club-captain Wayne Rooney is in need of competition in Manchester. Of course, the likes of Javier Hernandez and James Wilson will have roles to play throughout the course of the campaign, but if United are serious about overhauling Chelsea at the summit of the table, then it's crucial they secure the signature of a world-class striker.
