Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has promised to do all he can to ensure coach Ottmar Hitzfeld leaves the club a winner.

It was Hitzfeld who gave the Germany international his break during his first spell in charge of the Bavarians and Schweinsteiger has not forgotten this and feels he owes it to his mentor to give him an honourable departure - with titles.

"We want to give the coach a decent send-off. He has deserved not to leave without titles," said the 23-year-old. "It is a shame that he is leaving. Ottmar Hitzfeld fits in very well at this club. He has been very successful here."
