Cameroon football federation president Mohammed Iya has confirmed that striker Samuel Eto´o has been given permission to remain with Barcelona until after Saturday´s Primera Liga game against Real Murcia.

Barca coach Frank Rijkaard claimed last Friday that Eto´o had been allowed to stay with the club until this weekend, but earlier this week a Cameroon spokesman insisted the forward needed to be released for African Cup of Nations duty immediately. However, Cameroon coach Otto Pfister has now given the green light for Eto´o to remain with Barca for the time being.

"There is no problem. The coach (Pfister) has spoken with the player and accepts that he will play this weekend and that he will be incorporated into the squad afterwards, therefore Eto´o will be able to play the two games with Barcelona," Iya told Spanish radio station RAC-1 in remarks reported by Marca.
