Roma coach Luciano Spalletti is hoping winger Alessandro Mancini will sign a new contract with the Giallorossi.

The Brazil international´s current deal at the Stadio Olimpico expires in June 2009 and Roma must now decide whether to cash in on the 27-year-old or agree fresh terms with a player reportedly a target for Manchester City and Lyon.

The club have opened talks with Mancini and Spalletti is hoping it will lead to the player committing his long-term future to Roma, saying: "It´s not certain that Mancini will leave. I think he wants to reach an agreement with the club. I have never heard Mancini say he wants to leave."
