Italy coach Roberto Donadoni insists he never worried his charges might not qualify for Euro 2008.

After a difficult start to life as the successor of World Cup winner Marcello Lippi, Donadoni now appears to have built on his predecessor´s success.

Italy only just qualified for next summer´s showpiece, but Donadoni claims he never had any doubts his team would deliver the goods, telling La Stampa newspaper: "I knew I had inherited an extraordinary squad, so I never feared we would not qualify. It is always better to have to recharge the batteries of a winning team than revive a losing one."
