Shoulder op for Weidenfeller

Borussia Dortmund number one Roman Weidenfeller faces a three-month injury absence after undergoing shoulder surgery at the weekend.

The 27-year-old felt pain in his shoulder as early as last September, but had been treating the problem with physiotherapy.

Now the Bundesliga has broken for a six-week winter break, Weidenfeller has taken the opportunity to deal with problem, which was revealed to be ligament damage, so as to miss as few games as possible.
