Manchester United’s big deadline-day signing Anthony Martial showed off his remarkable pace during last season’s Champions League Round of 16 match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium while playing for his former club AS Monaco.

A highlights video of Martial’s best moments was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday - and it features an eye-catching run from the teenager, in which he beats Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin for pace with the ball glued to his feet. (Scroll down to watch the video).

The fact he beats Bellerin in particular makes the run even more impressive. The Spanish full-back is officially the quickest player in Arsenal’s history, according to the Telegraph, while the Independent reckon he might even be quicker than Usain Bolt.

But Bellerin struggled to keep up with the rapid Martial, who took the ball from the edge of his own penalty area before driving into the opposite half of the pitch.

Martial won his side a free-kick and Bellerin took the yellow card.

Big pressure on young Martial

The clip provides a clue as to why Manchester United have agreed to pay such a huge amount of money for the 19-year-old, who was an unknown quantity in England prior to last weekend.

United have paid Monaco an initial £36 million for the teenager’s services - although that fee could rise to an eye-watering £58 million, according to BBC Sport.

Manchester United have heaped further pressure on Martial’s young shoulders by handing him the number nine shirt and fans will be expecting him to make an instant contribution after the international break, despite his tender age.

But with decent strength and very impressive pace, Martial appears to possess the physical attributes required to become a success in the Premier League.
