Atletico Madrid hero Simao Sabrosa hailed his side´s UEFA Cup victory over Panathinaikos as mission accomplished, even if the match was not the best of spectacles.

Atletico had to do it the hard way in the battle between the top two teams in Group B as they both trailed to a 34th-minute goal from Dimitrios Salpigidis and then, after Luis Garcia had equalised with 16 minutes remaining, lost Raul Garcia to an 81st-minute red card.

Despite being a man down, Atletico still managed to take the points thanks to Simao´s last-gasp winner, leaving the Spanish giants on top of the standings, a point clear of Panathinaikos and Simao said: "I want to win and I know that I scored an important goal."
