Authorities are bracing themselves for a weekend of hooliganism in Ligue 1, with Paris St Germain´s home clash with Toulouse particularly at risk.

There have been a number of clashes between rival fans of Ligue 1 clubs in recent weeks and around 80 ´ultras´ were involved in a fight before the Nancy-Lille match on November 24, a day before more violent clashes between PSG and Nice supporters. Six people were arrested over that weekend.

Michel Lepoix, who works in France´s interior ministry, said: "With Paris, things had become normalised thanks to the actions of the police, intelligence, club president Alain Cayzac, (security director) Jean-Philippe d´Hallivillee and also (coach) Paul Le Guen. Suddenly, the sporting situation at PSG has brought back anger among the supporters."
