Bayern aim to stay top of tree

Bayern Munich have to successfully get through just 90 more minutes of Bundesliga football to retain their place at the top of the table for another six weeks.

The Bavarians have been at the summit since day one of the season and will go into the mid-season break in pole position if they avoid defeat against Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

However, comments made at the start of the campaign by general manager Uli Hoeness which suggested their rivals "would need a telescope" to be able to keep track of Bayern this season have so far proved exaggerated.
