Celtic defender Steven Pressley insists the Parkhead club are not in the last 16 of the Champions League to "make up the numbers."

The Scottish champions qualified for the knockout stages for the second season in succession on Tuesday along with AC Milan despite a 1-0 defeat in the San Siro - and the 34-year-old believes the Hoops can go one stage further.

He said: "To qualify through to the last 16 again considering the budgets of the other teams is a remarkable achievement. There is a desire to progress past the last 16. We are not just there to make the numbers up."
