Lyon fail in league request

Lyon have failed to get their weekend match postponed after trying to seek a level footing with Champions League rivals Rangers.

The Scottish Premier League agreed this week to postpone Rangers´ visit to Gretna on Sunday - three days before the crunch match with Lyon at Ibrox and Lyon tried to follow suit but have been told they must play their Ligue 1 fixture against Caen on Saturday.

"We only wanted to be on a level playing field with Rangers," Lyon boss Alain Perrin said. "We wanted a little gift from the French league in the way the Scottish league have helped Rangers - but they said no."
