Andy Murray has revealed his pride in completing a comeback to advance to the third round of the US Open, after having gone behind against Adrian Mannarino.

"I'm proud of the way I fought," said the 28-year-old.

"It was not an easy match to come through at all. He was making it extremely difficult for me."

The Scot dropped the first two sets but then rallied to beat his opponent in three hours 17 minutes. He’ll next play Thomaz Bellucci.

In F1, Lewis Hamilton was the quickest again in the second Italian GP practice run, with neither him nor Rosberg experiencing any trouble with their new power units.

The Englishman edged out Rosberg in a close session, topping the timesheets for Mercedes.

Boxing and Andre Berto has talked up the looming fight between himself and Floyd Mayweather. Berto is a huge underdog heading into what could be Mayweather’s final bout, but said it would be huge for the sport if he won.

The chances are he won't, given how good his opponent on the night will be, but he's always got a puncher's chance.

Lastly, in the MLS Sebastian Giovinco has been handed the division’s player of the month award for the second time in a row.

Four goals and three assists in six matches gave him that accolade, with the Italian becoming the first player in the league's history to win the award in two consecutive months.
