Holland coach Marco van Basten has announced he will step down from the role after Euro 2008.

The former Ajax and AC Milan striker informed the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) of his decision at a meeting on Tuesday.

A statement from Van Basten on the KNVB´s official website read: "After four years it is time for new surroundings. Although John and I have absolutely no idea what the future holds for us, we think it is our duty to inform the KNVB of our decision as they have always been a good employer for us."
