Slaven Bilic has had a good start to his West Ham career and has added real quality to an already strong squad.

Super signing

West Ham have signed numerous players in this summer window but the pick of the bunch looks to be Dimitri Payet, whose early season form has been impressive.

Payet is renowned for his creativity and vision and thrives when in his favoured centre attacking midfield role. Bilic has fielded his star man out on the left hand side of the attack but has given him the freedom to roam around.

Payet has created 51 goals in Ligue 1 over the past six seasons and looks a real talent. Signed for just over £10 million, he already looks to be a real bargain, and, at the age of 28, he is in his prime.

He can provide the spark that the West Ham team has been lacking. He has the ability to unlock defences and will certainly improve the team in an attacking sense.

Deadline madness

West Ham had a busy end to the transfer window too, and made four additions to the squad in the shape of Michail Antonio from Nottingham Forest for £7 million, Nikica Jelavic from Hull for £3 million, Alex Song on loan from Barcelona and Victor Moses on loan from Chelsea.

Antonio was a standout player for Nottingham Forest last season and will give the team an injection of pace. He has an eye for a goal and, even if he doesn’t start, will be a good impact sub to bring on.

Jelavic looks a snip at £3 million and has the predatory instincts to score goals for the club. He is a fantastic finisher and is already a proven goal scorer in the Premier League.

Barcelona’s Song was a revelation on loan last season and Bilic has managed to secure his services (on loan) again this season. He brought an extra calmness and slickness to the Hammers midfield and not only got assists, but improved the team defensively too.

He has plenty of experience at the top of the game and can certainly improve the young players who are breaking into the first team, like promising teen, Reece Oxford.

Chelsea loanee, Victor Moses, looks an excellent addition to the team and you’d expect him to make their strongest eleven. He has the pace and skill to cause any defence problems and will certainly light up Upton Park.

West Ham have had a good start to the Premier League this season and were very impressive at Anfield against Liverpool last time out, a game in which they won by a resounding 3-0.

The team have strength in depth and quality to really make a go of it this season. The fans will be happy enough with a top ten finish but if all their new signings hit the ground running and Payet can live up to the hype, Europe could be a real possibility.

It will not be easy for them, but with the added goal scoring options and the promising young players coming through too, they will be an exciting team to watch this season!
