Chelsea legend Didier Drogba marked his first start for MLS side Montreal Impact in stunning style and took to Instagram after the game to express his gratitude to Blues fans, who had travelled from London to see their 'king' at his new castle.

The Ivorian marked his first start for the Canadian side by scoring the perfect hat-trick, in a 4-3 home win against Chicago Fire.

The 37-year-old is one of the greatest players to ever grace the turf at Stamford Bridge and it seems Chelsea fans are in no rush to forget their hero.

The banner, behind one of the goals at the Stade Saputo, read 'From London, for the king' and Drogba took to Instagram to share a special message for Chelsea fans.

He captioned the post: 'What an amazing surprise to see this special banner in Montreal, thank you Chelsea Fans thank you @chelseafc for the unconditional love 💙💙💙💙'

Drogba is famously remembered for his role in the Champions League final, where he scored the equalising goal and put away the winning penalty to snatch the trophy from Bayern Munich.

He will go down in history as one of the best goal-scorers to ever don the Blue, after he hit 164 goals in 381 games, winning four Premier Leagues, three League Cups, four FA Cups and that famous Champions League winners medal.

He struggled to recreate his goalscoring form upon his return to West London, scoring seven goals in 40 league games, but his influence in the dressing room could not be underestimated.

On first viewing it seems Drogba will enjoy his time across the pond as he looks to have already rediscovered his touch in front of goal.

Has there ever been a better striker at Chelsea than Didier Drogba? Would you have liked him to stay in West London? Have your say below!
