Stone Cold Steve Austin has recently said he isn’t a fan of the design of the WWE Tag Team Championship belt, saying ‘they look like two gigantic copper pennies’.
Speaking on The Steve Austin show, the WWE Hall of Famer showed his disgust over the WWE tag titles, and how he would improve the design of the titles.
He said: “They look like two gigantic copper pennies that got run over by a railroad train and they put them on a piece of leather. Gold means championship and you can get away with classic silver, and a lot of belts did, but, come on, man. Bronze? Copper?”

You have to admit the design doesn’t make the tag team championship a title worth winning. The copper design makes it look second best to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Intercontinental Championship, and the United States Championship.
The New Day, who are the current tag team champions, would certainly look even better than what they do right now if they were hosting gold belts around their waists instead of the copper ones they have right now.
Hopefully, when The Dudley Boyz eventually win the tag team championships (don’t say I’m lying, we all know it is going to happen sooner or later) they will change the design of the belts during their coronation.
Bringing back the old World Tag Team Championship look to the current tag titles would definitely be the right way to go. Those titles looked good and would certainly satisfy Stone Cold with the amount of gold featured on them.
