Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness has denied he is lining up Lothar Matthaus to become his club´s new coach if and when Ottmar Hitzfeld leaves.

At the weekend, Hoeness said Matthaus "would be a consideration if he got his training badge", but insists that was not an indirect approach for the former Hungary and Salzburg coach.

"All I said was that a condition to even thinking about it would be him getting his coaching badge, nothing more and nothing less," explained Hoeness in the Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper. "I just wanted to make it clear that there is no longer any resentment."
