WWE confirmed reports earlier today that Lana has sustained a wrist injury whilst working out in the ring at a live show.
Dr Amann released the following statement through WWE:
“During a training session [Sunday] afternoon, Lana had sustained an injury in the ring. We attended to her and noticed that she had a deformity of her wrist," said WWE's senior ringside physician Dr. Scott Amann.

Dr. Amann continued, “We obtained X-rays which showed a Colles’ fracture and [we put her] in a splint. Most of these Colles’ fractures do better surgically than non-surgically, especially in younger patients. Most likely this will require an operation, which will take her out of active competition for approximately four months."
DOES THIS MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO WWE?
Lana is currently in the middle of a storyline with her former boyfriend Rusev and current partner Dolph Ziggler and after their match at SummerSlam ended in a double count-out, it seems that WWE were leading towards a mixed-tag match at Night of Champions.
Lana was said to have not been able to get into the ring at SummerSlam for unknown medical reasons, but evidently if she was able to be in the ring working out then that means WWE had something planned for her in the near future.
Lana and Summer Rae had another altercation on Smackdown and now the former Total Divas star is sporting a nasty bruise on her face. It seems that the two were about to collide in a sanctioned match after weeks of coming between the two men they have currently aligned themselves with.
HOW COULD WWE ADAPT THE CURRENT STORYLINE?
Lana hasn't done a lot of ring work as of late and is still yet to have a sanctioned WWE match, but with her out for four months now it is unlikely that WWE will continue the current "possible affair" storyline until she is fit for ring action.
At the same time a mixed tag match would allow her to have as little time as possible in the ring and it means she wouldn't have to control an entire match. Bayley managed to wrestle with her hand strapped up, maybe Lana could do the same?
Ziggler vs Rusev is likely for Night of Champions in two weeks time but as of yet it is unknown what part the two women will play in it and how much Lana's injury will affect current creative plans. Whether or not Lana has to have the surgery will provide more answers when it comes to how long she will be out for.
