Hiddink surprised by England failure

Russia coach Guus Hiddink admitted he was surprised by England´s inability to secure qualification for Euro 2008.

Russia beat Andorra 1-0 and progressed to the finals as England suffered a shock 3-2 reverse at the hands of group winners Croatia at Wembley.

Former Holland coach Hiddink said: "I am very surprised England didn´t get at least get a draw, although Croatia are a good team. We had two draws against Croatia, they are a very experienced team with very experienced players, but nevertheless, I am very surprised they won."
