McClaren facing crunch meeting

Football News
Steve McClaren will head for an early morning meeting with his Football Association bosses knowing he is almost certain to be relieved of his job as England coach.

McClaren steadfastly refused to resign in the immediate aftermath of Wednesday night´s crushing 3-2 Euro 2008 defeat by Croatia at Wembley which ended any hope of reaching next summer´s Finals in Austria and Switzerland.

It will be the first time England have missed a major championship since the 1994 World Cup and like the man who presided over that failure, Graham Taylor, McClaren looks set to pay with his job.
