There are rumoured plans for the Intercontinental Championship at Night of Champions, with Ryback putting his title on the line against Kevin Owens.

As many WWE fans know, the majority of titles are put on the line at Night of Champions. After Monday Night Raw, the Intercontinental Championship was the only title not to have a match schedule for the pay-per-view.

NoDQ have said the plan coming out of last night’s Raw is for Ryback to defend his Intercontinental Championship against Owens at Night of Champions. Placing Ryback against Owens would be the best move possible for the title at this present moment of time.

Ryback is coming off the back of one of the most horrible feuds of the year. His match against The Big Show and The Miz at SummerSlam wasn’t good and I’m glad that this feud can finally be put to bed and forgotten about. The title was losing respect by the WWE Universe as contenders were not highly thought of compared to the likes of Cesaro and Kevin Owens, who deserve a title shot more.

Owens is coming off the back of a great feud with Cesaro. They had a fantastic SummerSlam match together, which was won in clean fashion so there is no need to go back to it right now. Now it’s time to give Owens another opportunity for a WWE title.

Owens is connecting better with the fans and it’s great that the WWE could be recognising this after the fat-slamming comments they made a couple of weeks ago that were uncalled for. Owens is a lot better at promoting than Ryback and winning the Intercontinental Championship would set his path to the top of the WWE card.

The Canadian has shown us all what kind of competitor he is when he feuded with John Cena as soon as he made his debut on the main roster. Allowing him to replicate that and giving him the Intercontinental Championship would add respect back to the title, as the championship has lost its worth since Daniel Bryan gave it up after WrestleMania due to injury.

As soon as Owens wins the title, the WWE should then bring back Cesaro into a feud with him which would set up some fantastic matches throughout the autumn month’s pay-per-views.
