Steve McClaren is convinced England will not spurn the unexpected Euro 2008 lifeline thrown to them from Tel Aviv on Saturday night.

As it has transpired, Israel´s 2-1 victory over Russia and Macedonia´s 2-0 win over Croatia has left England requiring just a two-goal win over Slaven Bilic´s side on Wednesday to reach next summer´s European Championship finals as Group E winners.

A single point will be enough to book England´s place in Austria and Switzerland, and McClaren is confident they will do it, he said: "It will be difficult but I am convinced we will get the result we need and we will qualify."
