Chelsea might have ultimately suffered humiliation when they were repeatedly rebuffed by Everton in their attempts to sign John Stones this summer, but the player might become a Blues star yet. The latest information on the subject is that Stones is going to request a £38million buyout clause in a new Everton contract - one that would render his current club helpless if Chelsea return to the bidding next year. The summer’s consensus was that the England international wanted to move to Stamford Bridge, but that Roberto Martinez and co. wouldn’t let him. It appears even Mourinho’s magic has its limits sometimes. Meanwhile former Chelsea ace Emmanuel Petit has revealed he regrets his decision to join the Blues ahead of Manchester United. The Frenchman said opting for west London was a personal choice, not a sporting one, but implied that given the chance again he’d head the other way.
