New arrivals to the WWE, no matter how successful they have been on the independent circuit or with rival promotions, are virtually a lock to undergo some form of character transformation.

Change afoot

And the WWE haven't taken long to begin the transitional process on the latest star wrestler to sign a deal with the organization.

Japanese female star Kana, signed officially last week, has been handed a new in-ring name as she begins life in NXT and there are pictures to prove it.

Having been introduced to the WWE Universe as Kana when spotted at the recent NXT: Takeover event in Brooklyn (despite the fact that she had wrestled to this point in her career as 'Kanna') it looked like WWE were happy to settle for a subtle change to her decade long character.

A photo though, posted to Twitter by a fan in attendance at the latest NXT taping, shows how the Diva will be known from here on in.

Moving forward

Last night's event at Full Sail University was one full of big moments for Kana/Asuka. As well as being introduced to the NXT audience for the first time, and being handed a new character name, plans for the 30-year-old's first meaningful action as a WWE employee were confirmed.

As reported by WrestleZone, Asuka will make her WWE TV début in just two weeks time in an in-ring segment with William Regal - the General Manager of NXT.
