Anthony Martial thanked everyone associated with Manchester United for their support after his dream debut against Liverpool on Saturday.

The 19-year-old scored a superb solo goal in the closing stages of the match at Old Trafford to help ensure all three points for his new employers against their fierce rivals from Merseyside.

Martial slalomed past Martin Skrtel before placing the ball to perfection into the bottom corner of the net past Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet - a finish that has intensified the comparisons with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

Taking to Twitter after the match, Manchester United’s new No. 9 posted: “I'm Very happy for the victory thank you all for your support @ManUtd.”

With his debut goal, Martial has already managed to alleviate some of the pressure on his young shoulders following his big-money move from AS Monaco at the end of the summer transfer window.

Martial to play against PSV on Tuesday?

Manchester United paid an initial £36 million for the teenager - although that fee could eventually rise to £58 million, depending on what he achieves at Old Trafford - and such a huge price tag was always going to ramp up expectation levels.

United boss Louis van Gaal has pleaded with fans to show patience towards Martial, who is not the finished product yet, but supporters will now be hoping to catch another glimpse of their new hero in action against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League group stages on Tuesday night.
