Richard Keys believes Liverpool will sack Brendan Rodgers next weekend if the Reds fail to beat Norwich City at Anfield.

Keys, who now works for beIN Sports following a lengthy spell with Sky Sports, feels Rodgers will be dismissed by Anfield officials next weekend unless his side secure all three points.

Liverpool are currently ninth in the Premier League table following their 3-1 defeat to fierce rivals Manchester United on Saturday, with seven points on the board from a possible 15.

“Brendan Rodgers is in even more trouble,” Keys wrote in his latest blog. “I honestly believe he HAS to beat Norwich next week. And he has to beat them well. Anything less and he could very well be gone.

“Liverpool were awful at [Old Trafford]. Awful. What is Rodgers trying to achieve right now? What's the plan? Where's the flair? I don't see it.

“I had a great evening with him recently in London and he struck me as the 'very nice guy' that Steven Gerrard is talking about in his serialised book right now. But I also got the impression that he knows the vultures are circling.”

Jurgen Klopp is still available...

Indeed, Rodgers was somewhat fortunate to hold onto his job at the end of last season, after Liverpool finished the 2014-15 campaign in sixth position.

The Reds were expected to challenge for the title at the start of last season after coming agonisingly close to winning the Premier League at the end of the 2013-14 campaign, but the departure of Luis Suarez proved catastrophic for the Merseyside outfit.

With Jurgen Klopp still out of work following his departure from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, those in charge of hiring and firing at Anfield might be tempted to contact the impressive German coach if Liverpool fail to beat the Canaries next Sunday.
