Football News
The Football Association of Ireland will hold an emergency board meeting this week to "assess the current situation" of the national team, with Republic boss Steve Staunton reportedly close to losing his job.

Reports earlier suggested the FAI had called the meeting for Tuesday with Staunton´s position far from secure having failed to qualify for Euro 2008.

It is understood an unscheduled meeting will be held at some point before the weekend - possibly on Tuesday - where members will consider the future of the national team.
