Valdes possible?

With Chelsea having lost last season’s mojo, the last thing Jose Mourinho would have wanted was an injury to a key player.

Alas, the footballing gods have once again laughed at the plans of mortal managers, and Thibaut Courtois is facing a lengthy spell out on the sidelines.

However, the latest on the situation - courtesy of The Independent - sees it said that Mourinho won’t go into the market for another goalkeeper, with Manchester United’s Victor Valdes seemingly an obvious choice.

The Independent say Mourinho is not keen on recruiting Valdes and is happy with the options he has - namely Asmir Begovic and Jamal Blackman.

No Terry/Costa bust-up

Meanwhile, the Blues have staunchly denied rumours alluding to a training ground bust-up between John Terry and Diego Costa.

TalkSPORT’s Stan Collymore reported that the two had been involved in an altercation, but the club have downplayed the speculation. Collymore has since withdrawn his statement.

Cech on coming home

Lastly, former Stamford Bridge custodian Petr Cech has confirmed he is looking to take all three points from his old side when he and Arsenal travel to west London this weekend.

The match will mark the first time Cech has played at his former haunt since leaving the club for the Emirates Stadium in the summer, and he’s certainly targeting three points.
