Last night, Nikki Bella has achieved what many believed she would not do by becoming the longest-reigning WWE Divas Champion.
Having defending her title during this week's edition of Monday Night Raw, one-half of the Bella Twins overcame AJ Lee's previous record in doing so.
As is so commonly the case with WWE however, this was not to be achieved without some form of misfortune.

It may well have been Nikki who held on to her WWE Divas Championship Title, but this only came about with the assistance of her sister, Brie.
With previous NXT Women's Champion Charlotte, many people's favourite going into this bout, looking set for victory, Nikki needed something special to hold onto her crown.
Just as Nikki was down, Charlotte's victory seemed imminent, and it was as she secured the pin and was announced as the new WWE Divas Champion.
With her emotional father and WWE legend Ric Flair joining her in the ring to celebrate her win alongside the rest of Team PCB, the celebrations were to be short-lived.
This was because, as Bleacher Report states, prior to the pin fall, Charlotte was distracted by Alicia Fox of Team Bella, which enabled Brie to switch places with her sister, meaning she was who Charlotte actually pinned.
Cue a huge amount of controversy, with Stephanie McMahon making her way out to explain that although Charlotte was the confirmed winner of the match via disqualification, Nikki still retained her Divas Title as a result.
Although the ending of this match will doubtlessly anger several members of the WWE Universe, there are a lot of positives to take away from it.
Saying the WWE creative team has achieved something beneficial with regard to the Divas is something which has not been apparent for a long time but this match certainly did just that.
Going into this episode of Raw, we knew we were in for several exciting rumoured appearances but the WWE Divas Title match was hyped spectacularly.
This meant that whatever the outcome was, the WWE Universe was genuinely excited and interested by the bout and the result only means this intrigue will be carried forward to the Night of Champions pay-per-view event.
With this in mind and the event just five days away, the knowledge that Nikki could lose her Divas Title by count out, pin fall, submission or disqualification means the excitement is still very much apparent for the Divas, just as it should have been for a long time.
