New Manchester United signing Anthony Martial was almost left behind by the team bus ahead of the club's Champions League clash with PSV last night.

This has been reported by the Mirror, who claim that the French international wasn't on the bus as it left for the Philips Stadion.

Fortunately, the teenager appeared soon after and was quickly reunited with his teammates by a member of staff.

Despite making the journey with the rest of the squad, it proved a tricky night for the striker, who played the full 90 minutes in the club's 2-1 defeat. Martial looked lively enough throughout the proceedings but failed to make his mark.

It was certainly a night to forget for the Red Devils, who lost Luke Shaw in the early stages of the first-half. The talented teenager looks set to be out of action for a lengthy period after sustaining a double fracture of the leg.

Patience needed

Of course, after scoring on his debut for the club against Liverpool this past weekend, all eyes were on Martial last night. It's clear for all to see that the Frenchman isn't going to become a superstar overnight, but he's certainly an exciting player to have at the club.

With pace to burn and an eye for goal, there's no reason why Martial won't prove a success story at Old Trafford. The return of Wayne Rooney should help him, too. There's no doubt about it, throughout the course of the campaign, the likes of Martial and Memphis Depay will only learn from the United captain.

There will be inconsistencies along the way, but Martial may well prove a fine investment for the Red Devils.
