Liverpool need all the help they can get with regards to boosting morale at the moment following their drubbing at the hands of Manchester United, but they won’t have Christian Benteke’s assistance when they travel to France to play Bordeaux in their opening Europa League fixture this week. That’s according to the Daily Mirror, who claim that Brendan Rodgers is prioritising this weekend’s game against Norwich City, as he bids to end the Reds’ domestic slump. Instead youngster Divock Origi is to be blooded by the Northern Irishman, whilst the returning Adam Lallana is set to be given a shot, as is Philippe Coutinho. Meanwhile, Steven Gerrard’s lawyers have categorically denied claims from El-Hadji Diouf that the former Anfield skipper is a racist. Diouf made the accusation recently, stating that Gerrard had never looked him in the eye. Gerrard is reportedly now considering legal action.
