In a 15 year career in the NBA with teams like the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards, Michael Jordan made $94 million. In 2014, Michael Jordan made $100 million from his iconic Air Jordan brand, as shown in a recently released PBS infographic.

Newshour reports that the sneaker industry was worth a staggering $34 billion last year. With the NBA taking a fraction of this with $5 billion annually, Jordan making more from sneakers shouldn’t be too big of a surprise.

With his $100 million intake, Jordan beat LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose, and other NBA superstars.

Aside from sneakers, Jordan endorses products like Gatorade, Hanes, Five Star fragrances, has ownership of the Charlotte Hornets, restaurants, and more.

There is also the additional $8.9 million that Jordan made after winning a lawsuit against a supermarket chain.

All of this, eventually adds up. Jordan joined the likes of Russ Weiner as a newcomer on the Forbes Billionaires list recently. Clearly his basketball talent isn’t the only thing that has made him money.

Kurt Badenhausen of Forbes writes about how Jordan ranks fourth among all celebrities in terms of consumer awareness and 12th around the world:

“Jordan’s 98% awareness level in the U.S. is on par with Barack Obama.”
