When asked, 99 percent of people would surely say that either Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi are the best player in the world.

However, former Real Madrid left-back Roberto Carlos has an alternative view on the world's top talent.

The Brazilian believes that his compatriot, and Messi's Barcelona team-mate, Neymar is the best player in world football right now.

The South American star has been a force on the international stage for some time, scoring 46 goals in 67 appearances for the Green and Yellow.

However, Carlos believes Neymar is, in fact, better at domestic level as there is less pressure on him at the Catalan club.

As per the Mirror, he said: "People are always talking about whether Messi or Ronaldo is the best, but for me it's Neymar,

"Barcelona's Neymar does a lot more than Brazil's Neymar because the team is better established, Brazil are building a team for next year's Copa America.

"The Neymar we see at Barcelona is his best version. It is too much responsibility for him to be Brazil's leader already.

"He has Messi and Luis Suarez alongside him at Barcelona, which makes him feel more comfortable."

The 23-year-old has returned to the Barcelona fold following a bout of mumps, scoring one goal in three appearances this season.

He scored a stunning free-kick in the Bluagrana's 2-1 win against title rivals Atletico Madrid and has shown signs his link-up play with his attacking partners can return the dizzy heights of last season, where they combined for 122 goals.

However, to say he is better than Messi and Ronaldo seems a little far-fetched. One day maybe, but right now the Argentine and Portuguese superstars are still out in front.
