Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld praised his star triumvirate of summer signings after watching his league leaders thrash managerless Energie Cottbus 5-0 on Wednesday.

Miroslav Klose scored a second-half hat-trick as Bayern extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to three points, while Luca Toni was also on target and France international Franck Ribery bossed the midfield and set up two goals.

Hitzfeld told "Toni, Ribery and Klose showed all their class. Our opponents had to throw caution to the wind after going behind, and that obviously benefits the strikers."
